Chronologically, Peter Wilson & Moe Dixon have collaborated since the 1970s. Moe and Freebo have accompanied each other since the 1980s. Freebo & Alice Howe have been a non-stop touring duo for nearly a decade. While they have hung out in various combinations over many years, this will be the first time all four have been in the same place at the same time. Serious musical fun is to be expected.
Nevada City LIVE! presents an exciting winter concert on February 8th at Nevada Theatre, featuring two acoustic music duos – Alice Howe & Freebo, and Peter Wilson & Moe Dixon. This special event marks the first time all four musicians will share the stage together, promising a night of musical magic and camaraderie.
Freebo, known as one of the great bassists of the modern era, has a rich musical history that includes touring and recording with artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Neil Young. “There will be a lot of fun, a lot of musical interplay, a lot of cross talk and a lot of really good music. Often if you have good musicians and experienced performers, that can be magic,” said Freebo.
Peter Wilson, an award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist, is a prominent figure in the music scene, being a key member of the Deadbeats and Paul Emery’s 1000 Kisses Deep. “I’m excited about being with Moe and Alice and Freebo, all at the same time. We’ve shared and crossed paths for many years but this will be a first,” said organizer Peter Wilson.
Alice Howe & Freebo have established themselves as a dynamic touring duo, performing extensively across the U.S. and Europe. Their upcoming show in Nevada City follows their successful collaboration on Howe’s second album, “Circumstance,” which showcases their blend of Americana, blues, folk, and rock, filled with original music and beautiful harmonies. “We are a well-oiled machine at this point,” said Howe.
Wilson says, “When Alice & Freebo were here last summer I was able to get them to join me in the studio. I was putting the finishing touches on a record and Freebo added a couple of bass parts and Alice added vocals to a tune. Magic!”
Moe Dixon, an accomplished musician with a diverse background, joins Freebo in their long-standing musical partnership that traces back to their college days. Dixon’s impressive career includes collaborations with renowned artists and performances at various festivals and concert clubs. His passion for folk music and dedication to creating authentic, unforgettable experiences for his audience set him apart as a musician who values imperfections and spontaneity in his performances. “When we get together it’s really, really special. He’s one of the best bass players in the world and one of the top songwriters in the country,” said Dixon.
Peter Wilson & Moe Dixon share a deep musical connection that has blossomed over the years, leading to collaborations, tours, and creative projects that showcase their talents and shared love for folk music. Wilson’s diverse musical endeavors, from tribute bands to original songwriting, complement Dixon’s unique style and rich musical background.
Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind concert experience in Nevada City, where musical talents converge, friendships are celebrated, and the magic of live music comes alive. Join Alice Howe, Freebo, Peter Wilson, and Moe Dixon for a night of unforgettable performances and heartfelt connections that promise to leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
